Meet Jess Sellinger, a ceramic artist from Brisbane, Australia. We visited Jess to learn more about her art and how she first got started. Watch the video above to learn!
"I feel like my style is very minimal but also very bold - it’s always chopping and changing. That’s one of the best parts about being an artist - always looking for different design elements that you can work on, and not staying stagnant. Always chasing the new.
"I got into ceramics quite organically, it came as a surprise. I took classes at a pottery studio, and got some practice on the wheel.
I went from hand building little vases on my coffee table to my full-time business, and now having the studio too. I’ve got my living upstairs, and my work downstairs.
A lot of designs are pieces I’ve done before, but evolved. In the last few months I’ve honed into what I want to be known for, and a more cohesive style.
I do like making big bold statement pieces. Something that can really take away a room, or be a standout piece. That’s the direction I want to go in - more of an artist, not just a ceramicist.”
